The series of graphic works titled "Aliyah" dates from 1968, and was to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the rebirth of the State of Israel. The 25 lithographs were published in a limited edition that included a letter of introduction by David Ben-Gurion, the first Prime Minister and a key figure in the history of Israel.

The Hebrew world "aliyah", means literally "ascending", and in a broader term "migration to the land of Israel". The city of Jerusalem was built on a region of hills, so whoever wanted to celebrate the holly days right at the Temple, had to make the ascend, the aliyah. Jerusalem, as always, represents Israel. One can also contemplate about the more symbolical meaning of ascending to Jerusalem.
The artist took inspiration from the Old Testament as well as contemporary history.
