Le sommeil du Père Ubu is a graphic work by Joan Miró from the late 1960s–1970s, part of his extensive Ubu cycle inspired by Alfred Jarry’s absurd character Père Ubu. The piece depicts a sleeping, biomorphic Ubu form, rendered with a few spontaneous lines and bright color accents—typical of Miró’s free late style. The simplicity and floating linework create a dreamlike atmosphere linked to Surrealism and the unconscious. Miró uses Ubu as a playful critique of power and authority, transforming the figure into a humorous, organic presence. The work is usually produced as an etching, aquatint, or lithograph and represents a key piece in Miró’s poetic and experimental graphic period.Certificate of Authenticity is includedThe artwork is framed.
