Loys Delteil writes in the catalogue raisonne: "Renoir often visited Wargemont, close to Dieppe, where he painted motives of Berneval. He was invited by his friends, the Bérards who had three children. Renoir repeatedly depicted them, in particular on his painting 'Les pêcheuses de moules à Berneval', from 1880"
