The artwork was created to be used for a series of fundraiser events commissioned by the Committee 2000 which worked on projects to commemorate the year 2000.Andy Warhol writes in his diary:“Monday, March 9, 1981—MunichVery sunny and very cold. Went to the gallery where they were having a little exhibition of the glittery Shoes, and had to do interviews and pics for the German newspaper and then we had to go back to the hotel and be picked up by the ‘2000’ people—it’s a club of twenty guys who got together and they’re going to buy 2,000 bottles of Dom Perignon which they will put in a sealed room until the year 2,000 and then open it up and drink it and so the running joke is who will be around and who won’t.”- © The Andy Warhol Foundation
The image evokes themes of glamour and luxury that were so commonly associated with Warhol’s life at The Factory.
The artwork is framed. When delivered or picked-up in gallery, framing is included. Artwork ships unframed unless otherwise arranged. Please contact us if you need shipping the artwork framed.
